Presentation & Context

This document is a feature document based on the game Guild Wars 2, that I did in my free time in 2020. This game always adds his importance to me, and I have always wanted to do a work related to that game. I always love creating characters and classes, and I always love GW2, so it's very naturally that I come to create this document.

This document was base on my conception of a feature document, since I haven't created a professional one yet.

Process

Game Design

Before even talking about the feature I've designed, I did a quick return on the game and what he is about.

Then I did a more in-depth analysis of the game's system linked to my feature, here, the character-building system. I did that in order to explain how the system, I will talk about, work but also for non-familiar people to understand what are the mechanics involved in the game and in my feature.

Then I explain my new feature. How does it works? How it will fit the game? The new mechanics. And explaining my choice of design.

Combat Design

Since the feature I'm talking about in this document is a kind of character's classes for an MMORPG. I have to create a set of skills for this "class". I've created skills based on what was already existing in the game (in the part "Traits"), and what fit my design and the idea I wanted to vehicles.

All of this thinking about the balance of the game, even in various game mode (PvE, PvP, etc...). I decided to stay simple in my way of detailing those skills, not giving to much detail about skills exact damage and duration, because of my lack of knowledge on the game damage calculation system.
